据交管部门通报，4月24日早8点多，在海淀区沙阳路，在行人过街信号灯红灯亮起时，一名电动自行车骑车人由南向北从斑马线上骑行横穿道路，与由西向东正常行驶的一辆小客车发生碰撞事故，造成骑车人受伤，后经医院抢救无效不幸身亡。
调查发现，骑行人在事发时并未佩戴安全头盔。闯红灯属于典型的主动制造通行冲突的严重违法行为，违反《道路交通安全法》中“按交通信号通行”原则，极易与按绿灯正常行驶车辆发生侧面碰撞交通事故，正常行驶车辆容易因突发情况来不及应对，在躲避过程中也可能引发与其他交通参与者的事故。
